Recreational Swimming

What you need to know before you visit

Just like casual swim sessions before the pandemic, these are for everyone looking to swim for fun and/or a bit of physical activity. Whether you're a parent and child, a family or individual you can book and enjoy time in the pool, as long as you adhere to the Pool supervision ratios (click the button at the top of the page to view these) During major school holidays, families may also enjoy our Free Family Swim programme.

  • Please ensure you've read and understood our Health Commitment Statement
  • To avoid disappointment, sessions should be booked and paid for before you swim
  • Read: more information on how to book and why swimming needs booking
  • We ask you not to book unless you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something beyond your control means you won’t be able to attend, please try and let us know by phoning the venue giving as much notice as possible.
  • We're sorry we're unable to offer refunds for pay as you go bookings paid online (see more information on this here)
  • If members of your family have additional or special needs, please phone the venue for specific advice on our ability to meet these.
  • If you require space to leave a pram or buggy please contact the venue directly as the situation differs at each venue.
  • Supervision ratios apply and must always be adhered to
  • Please note that owing to pool depth, activities in Drumchapel's main pool may require under 16s to complete a two length swim test (50m) and be accompanied by an adult (16yrs+) at all times.

Equipment and facilities when you visit

  • We welcome the use of self-provided goggles, floats, sinkers, woggles arm-bands and flotation vests.
  • Paddles, flippers and snorkels are only permitted during club and full lane-hire sessions.
  • If you require swim aids (flotation devices) or the kids wish to bring pool toys etc please bring these with you as no equipment will be available for hire
  • In line with Scottish Government guidance, we advise customers to continue wearing face coverings within the facility, however this is no longer mandatory from Monday 18 April
  • Changing facilities, showers, toilets and lockers will be available for swimmers
  • Ensure you take all your belongings with you and do not leave anything behind

Hygiene

  • If you wish, bring your own hand sanitizer
  • Do not attend the venue if you feel unwell in any way

Indoor Fitness Classes

Before you visit

  • Please ensure you've read and understood our Health Commitment Statement
  • We recommend booking classes in advance as spaces may not always be available on the day
  • Bookings are made most easily using the Glasgow Club app but this can also be done on our booking website
  • If you are unable to use the app or online booking, please call the venue directly and have your card ready for payment

Visiting the venue

  • Remember your wristband and/or Glasgow Club card to access venues with automated gates
  • Please be aware that if you arrive late, in the interests of safety you may not be allowed access to the class
  • You're welcome to bring a clean towel - please don’t leave it on equipment while you’re not using it
  • Bring hand sanitizer with you
  • In line with Scottish Government guidance, we advise customers to continue wearing face coverings within public areas of the facility, however this is no longer mandatory from Monday 18 April
  • Clean and wipe down your equipment before and after use – we’ll provide cleaning materials
  • Ensure you take all your belongings with you and do not leave anything behind
  • Lockers, changing rooms, toilets and showers are available.

Outdoor Tennis

Play must be booked.

Glasgow Life outdoor tennis courts are now for booked play only, there is no turn-up-and-play.

Bookings can be made using the Glasgow Club App (just add the Glasgow Club in the Parks club) or online at https://myglasgow.club/book

Tennis bookings are strictly 55 minutes. You will be required to leave the court 5 minutes before the hour to allow a smooth change over.

Before you play:

  • Remember to book in advance
  • Both singles play and doubles play is permitted
  • All bookings must comply with current LTA guidelines

Arriving and waiting to play

  • The clubhouse, locker room and toilet facilities are now open
  • Please arrive no earlier than five minutes before play starts, and you must stay outside the venue until it is safe to enter and the previous players have left
  • If you wish, bring your own hand sanitiser to use throughout play
  • Hire equipment is now available

During play

  • All lets will be for a one hour duration however players should finish training/games within 55 minutes to allow for a five minute change over

After play

  • Ensure you take all of your belongings with you at the end of the session and do not leave anything on court

Gym (including ActivClub)

Before you visit

  • Please ensure you've read and understood our Health Commitment Statement
  • Bookings for general gym sessions are no longer required: simply show up at the venue and check in - you'll need a monthly membership or Pay As You Go plan.
  • Live Active, ActivClub, and Disability sessions must still be booked in advance
  • Bookings are made most easily using the Glasgow Club app but this can also be done on our booking website
  • If you are unable to use the app or online booking, please call the venue directly and have your card ready for payment

Visiting for a gym session

  • Remember your wristband and/or Glasgow Club card to access venues with automated gates
  • You're welcome to bring a clean towel, but please don’t leave it on equipment you're not actively using
  • If you wish, bring your own hand sanitizer
  • In line with Scottish Government guidance, we advise customers to continue wearing face coverings within public areas of the facility, however this is no longer mandatory from Monday 18 April
  • Clean and wipe down your equipment before and after use – we’ll provide cleaning materials
  • Ensure you take all your belongings with you and do not leave anything behind
  • Toilets will be available for customer use only

Golf

Before the round

  • Remember to book online in advance
  • A maximum of four people per tee time

Arrival and waiting to play

  • The clubhouse, locker facilities and toilets are now open
  • If you wish, please bring your own hand sanitiser
  • Please aim to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your tee time

During the round

  • When you have played a hole, do not enter the next teeing area until the group in front have played their tee-shots and left the area

Teeing area

  • Only one golfer is allowed on the teeing area at a time, and you must enter the teeing area from the closest side and leave from the front or opposite side

Putting greens

  • Take turns with other golfers putting out on the greens. Once you have finished stand aside for the next player to putt out.

Individual Lane Swimming

Before you visit

  • Please ensure you've read and understood our Health Commitment Statement
  • Access is for those aged 12+ with a current membership or Pay As You Go booking record
  • Members should bring their RFID band and/or their Glasgow Club card to gain access to facilities with access control.
  • All sessions must be booked in advance – you cannot enter the venue without a booking
  • Bookings are made most easily using the Glasgow Club app but this can also be done on our booking website
  • If you are unable to use the app or online booking, please call the venue directly and have your card ready for payment
  • Your session booking will be for a set period of time and it's important that you arrive in time for the session starting and you must leave at the end of that session
  • Children 12 years old and over who wish to book a lane must comply with the lane swimming guidelines
  • Any swimmer who requires to be accompanied by a carer can book a lane swimming session at Tollcross or Springburn by phoning the relevant venue. We hope to be able to make this possible at other venues in the near future.

  • Hairdryer facilities are available
  • In line with Scottish Government guidance, we advise customers to continue wearing face coverings within public areas of the facility, however this is no longer mandatory from Monday 18 April
  • Changing facilities, showers, toilets and lockers will be available for swimmers
  • Ensure you take all your belongings with you and do not leave anything behind

Velodrome

All sessions must be booked and paid in advance. No access will be provided on a "turn up and ride" basis

Equipment

  • Only take the minimum amount of equipment with you that you need to use on the track
  • Ensure you take all your belongings with you at the end of the session and do not leave anything within the pens

Guidance

  • Please attend no more than 30 minutes before your booked session time.
  • In line with Scottish Government guidance, we advise customers to continue wearing face coverings within the facility until they reach their pen, however this is no longer mandatory from Monday 18 April

Equipment & Facilities

  • Ensure that you continue to clean your bike when in use
  • Please come changed and ready for the track as there are no changing facilities open
  • All cyclists will be asked to arrive no more than 30 minutes before their booked session
  • There will be two toilets available within the velodrome
  • At the end of the session please ensure you take all litter with you and leave the pens the way you found them

Outdoor Bowls

Play must be booked

Glasgow Life bowling greens are now open for pre-booked play, there is no 'turn up and play'

  • NOTE: Fair usage applies - please only make one 1-hour booking per customer, per day.
  • You'll need to register to book first (unless you already have a Glasgow Club booking login) this can be done here.
  • Bookings can be made using our mobile app by adding the Glasgow Club in the Parks club (a guide to downloading the app and adding clubs is available here)
  • You can also book online at https://myglasgow.club/book
  • You may be allocated a different rink on arrival, depending on the status of the greens.
  • Although rinks are booked for an hour, you will be asked to start packing up 10 minutes prior to the end of your booking.
  • If two people have booked for a game of singles, effectively creating a two-hour booking, please advise the attendant prior to starting. This will ensure your play is not interrupted 50 minutes into play.

Arrival and waiting to play

  • The clubhouse, locker room and toilet facilities are now open
  • If you wish, bring your own hand sanitiser for use throughout play.

Indoor Courts

Equipment
  • If you wish, bring your own hand sanitiser with you
  • Equipment can be hired from the venue at a cost of £3 per hired item and an additional deposit of £5 per item

Football bookings

All pitches must be booked and paid for in advance.

Booking & Payment

  • You can book and pay for a pitch using our mobile app or booking website. You'll need to register as a Pay As You Go customer first (if you haven't already)
  • Court and pitch bookings are for personal use only and should not be used for commercial or business purposes or for the benefit of any third party, unless agreed in advance by Glasgow Sport

Changing facilities

  • Changing is available at venues which are open for casual booking
  • In line with Scottish Government guidance, we advise customers to continue wearing face coverings when inside the facility, however this is no longer mandatory from Monday 18 April
  • It's recommended that users minimise the time they spend in changing rooms to 15 minutes or less

Equipment

  • If you wish, bring your own hand sanitiser
  • There will be no facility to borrow balls or use the pump to inflate footballs so ensure that you bring your own pump
  • Toilet facilities will be available but players should follow the one-way system in and out of venues

Athletics Track

Athletics Track at Crownpoint Sports complex

  • Track Sessions must be booked prior to attending - no turn up and train will be available for members
  • All sessions will be for a one hour duration however members / athletes should finish training within 50 minutes to allow for a 10 minute change over

General

  • All members / athletes must ensure that when parents drop-off and pick up their child, the child is in the company of a club representatives and not left unattended, as they will not be allowed access to the building.

Kids Football

This information concerns coached sessions for Tiny Tots, Mini Kickers, Creative Player, Play the Game, Girls Only Football etc.

Booking

  • It's vital your child's session is booked and paid for using our app or booking website BEFORE attending the venue.
  • It's vital you log out of your own Glasgow Club account before booking and log in with the email/password combination unique to each child you want to make a booking for. You can check the information we hold for the current logged in user by tapping "My Info" in our mobile app or the "My Account" button at the top the page when logged into our booking website
  • Please only make and pay for bookings you're sure you will be able to attend. We currently have limited access to systems, a smaller team and we're receiving a higher volume of enquiries so we're unable to process refunds for missed sessions.
  • When sessions are fully booked we are unable to allow access to any additional attendees to maintain compliance with Scottish Government and SFA guidelines on safe ratios.

Attendance

  • Registers will be used by coaches with names coming from the account used during booking (see details above). Please ensure you do book the child into the session with their account rather than using your adult customer record.
  • You must remain contactable throughout the session in case we need to get in touch. At the conclusion of sessions, coaches will stand and wait for your child to identify who is there to pick them up, please make yourself known to the coach. 
  • Face coverings are not be required for any children participating in sessions. 
  • Session Duration has been reduced to allow staff time to clean all equipment prior to the next session and to reduce crossover of participants.
  • Drinks should be brought by children in their own water bottle, ideally clearly marked with their name and participants should refrain from sharing.
  • Clothing worn by participants should be washed after every session they attend.
  • Coaches – our coaches have all completed Covid-19 Awareness training and have strict guidance on how sessions should now be delivered.
  • Do not attend if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19 and follow NHS advice

Pool Supervision Ratios

In addition to the supervision ratios below, please note we welcome the use of goggles, floats, sinkers, woggles arm-bands and flotation vests. However, use of paddles, flippers and snorkels is only permitted during club and/or full lane hire sessions.

All Pools

  • No restriction for independent swimmers aged 8+ except Drumchapel Main Pool (see below)
  • Younger swimmers require minimum supervision as follows:
Castlemilk
  • Main Pool: minimum age 4 years; 1 adult(16+) to 2 children 4-7 years
  • Boom Pool: 1 adult(16+) to 1 child under 4 years; 1 adult(16+) to 2 children 4-7 years
Drumchapel
  • Teaching Pool: 1 adult (16+) to 1 child under 4 years. 1 adult (16+) to 2 children 4-7 years
  • Main Pool: 8 years+ ONLY. 8-15yr olds may be required to complete a two length swim test (50m) and be accompanied by an adult (16yrs+) at all times.
Bellahouston, Easterhouse, Gorbals, Maryhill, Scotstoun, Tollcross, :
  • 1 adult (16+) to 1 child under 4 years
  • 1 adult (16+) to 2 children 4-7 years
Pollok
  • 1 adult (16+) to 2 children under 8yrs
  • Under 8yrs must remain in beach or splash areas of the pool
Springburn & North Woodside
  • 1 adult (16+) to 1 child under 5 years
  • 1 adult (16+) to 2 under 5s with buoyancy aids
Whitehill
  • 1 adult (16+) to 1 child under 5 years
  • 1 adult (16+) to 2 children aged 5-7
